MAKING THE END PANELS
You will need 4 pieces of 1 x 4 x 36″ sides and 2 pieces of 1 x 4 x 18″ tops and 2 pieces of 1 x 8 x 18″ bottoms and 2 pieces of 1/4″ plywood 18.5″ x 24.5″ tall, this will make both end panels.
To make the ends you first need to cut a 1/4″ wide and 1/4″ deep slot. In the center of the inside edge of the side tops and bottoms. This will be for the 1/4″ plywood to slide into when put together.
If you have a stile and rail bit for making cabinet doors. This will make the job easier and give a clean edge. You will notice that the side rails are longer than the rest of the bottom. This will be for the feet because a solid bottom may not sit level on an uneven floor. Once all pieces are cut add glue and place in clamps over night.
MAKING THE SIDE RAILS
The side rails will decide the overall length of the crib, the one shown is 34.5″ long and 16″ tall. At the ends of each top and bottom rails drill 2 pocket holes. This will be used to attach to the side panels. And on both ends of the uprights drill 2 pocket holes. Set in place making the spaces between the uprights. Even as you can but not over 3 inches apart.
Check in your area for any standards in on kids toys. You don’t want to make something that may be harmful to children. Once you have them in place add glue to the ends of the uprights. Add clamps to hold until you shoot the screws. Sand and remove any wood out of the pocket holes , then put in the plugs if you want.
MAKING THE TOPPER
The topper for this doll crib is optional we made it to hide the dados in the ends of the panels, you can use a piece of edge banding if you want. We made this topper the width of the end panels and 4″ tall in the center. Put a nice edge ( do not put an edge on the ends ). Then attached with dowel pins and glue.
ASSEMBLING THE DOLL CRIB
When assembling the crib attach the side rails to the inside edge of the 1 x 4 on the end panels, shoot the pocket screws. Now add the bed slats one on each end and two in the center. Space them evenly we used pocket screws to attach to the bottom of the side rails flush to the bottom .
